The simple terms governing use of MapVista.
Use of the site
MapVista is offered free of charge for personal, educational, and reasonable commercial use. You may read pages, link to them from your own writing, and quote short excerpts with attribution. Automated crawling is permitted at a polite rate; please respect the directives in robots.txt and avoid hammering the server with concurrent requests.
Data licensing
Country data displayed on MapVista is derived from open sources, principally the REST Countries project and Wikidata. Those sources are governed by their own licenses (REST Countries is widely used under permissive terms; Wikidata content is generally available under CC0). When you reuse data displayed on MapVista, please consult the upstream license rather than assuming MapVista's permissions extend to the underlying dataset.
Flag images, coats of arms, and map links are owned by their original authors and providers. Use of those assets is governed by the upstream license, not by MapVista. The site simply links out to the canonical source.
No warranty
MapVista is provided "as is". While we work to keep the data accurate and up-to-date, we make no warranty about the suitability of any information on this site for any particular purpose. Geographic and demographic data changes over time; figures shown here reflect the most recent open dataset we ingested and may differ from values published by a national government or international body.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MapVista and its operators are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or its data. If accuracy is critical to your work — for example, in legal, journalistic, or scientific contexts — please verify against the relevant primary source.
